Using L'hopital's rule,
$$\lim_{u \to 0}\frac{\sin u}{u} = \lim_{u \to 0} \frac{\frac{d}{du}\sin u}{\frac{d}{du}u} = \lim_{u \to 0} \cos u = 1$$
