So, why aren't there any Baptist monasteries? Is there some sort of theological opposition, or do Baptists just don't do it?

Is the injunction in the Benedictine rule “Deinde non occidere” interpreted to forbid the killing of brutes, or only humans?

Watching EWTN, I see that some of the Franciscans are priests and some are brothers. I'm pretty sure St. Francis himself went only as far as the diaconate (by his own choosing). So, do some good brothers get promoted to study for the priesthood? …
