English major. Fangirl. Anglophile. Paralegal. Pedant. Geek.
Some things I like:
- Top Gear UK (RIP)
- M*A*S*H
- PG Wodehouse
- British comedy & panel shows (QI / Would I Lie To You? / 8 Out of 10 Cats / Mock the Week)
- Formula 1 (Ferrari + Vettel / Raikkonen / Ricciardo / Button)
- The Beatles (have moved on now, but spent my teenage years as an obsessed superfan - still retain loads of useless trivia)
- Word games, crosswords, logic puzzles & jigsaw puzzles
- Classic cars ('66 Thunderbird, old Jags - E-Types and XK-120s)
- My car (2014 Hyundai Veloster Turbo, marathon blue)
Other things I consider myself well-versed in:
- Grammar
- Writing (word choice, syntax, phrasing, what sounds good)
- Verbosity (far too many years padding essays in college)
- Firefox
- Android
- Tumblr
- Research
- Desktop/PC customization (Windows/Firefox)
- Finding ways to bend Windows and/or Firefox to my will
- History (especially US/European 1900-1970)
Miscellaneous qualifications:
- I do a bit of coding (HTML/PHP and VB/.NET) on a fairly amateur level but I can usually hack together what I want with sufficient Googling.
- I do a bit of photography and graphic design, again on a fairly amateur level.
- My dad is a farmer who sells all-natural pork, so I go to a lot of farmers' markets and have become very familiar with Square card readers and very good at finding ways around Square's stubborn refusal to implement by-weight pricing.
- I'm very OCD and want to be organized but I'm also deeply lazy, so I live a life of great frustration. This contributes the following:
- I'm super picky about the configurations of my computer, browser, and phone, and will spend ages finagling complicated solutions to make them do what I want. I'm a massive fan of GreaseMonkey, AutoHotKey, and Nova Launcher.
- I'm a huge fan of webapps for all sorts of purposes and have tried zillions of them in my quest for one that meets all my picky criteria.
