Questions tagged [boot-animation]

An animation that is displayed during the boot process of Android after the power-on self-test of the device and the bootloader have been successfully executed.

The boot animation is a series of images stored in a ZIP-file on the system partition in /system/media named bootanimation.zip. The animation can usually be replaced with a bootanimation.zip in /data/local.

The animation usually consists of several parts with one part being a loop to be repeated multiple times until the boot process has been completed, which may lead to perceived endless loops, where a device takes longer than 5 minutes to boot.
