Android Wear is a platform for a smart-watch that can be used in conjunction with an Android phone, to show notifications from the phone on the watch, and to allow some interaction while your phone is still in your pocket. Not all smart-watches are Android Wear: some consist of a full, stand-alone Android device that just happens to be in the shape of a watch.

There are also some tags for specific smart-watches, but only use those if the question only relates to that product. If the question could apply to any Android Wear product, then your question will get more views (and is more likely to be answered) if you stick with this tag.
